Land of the Free, because of the Brave

Hello Summer!

I headed straight out of town after work Friday, taking in the gorgeous sunny drive down the Seward highway to my first camping trip of the summer. This coastal drive is one of the best and always reminds me why I love Alaska. I arrived at our campsite in Ninilchik and was greeted with a roaring fire, this beautiful sunset and a refreshing beverage, what a great way to start the weekend. Fishing was not in the cards for us on Saturday so we headed in to Homer to be tourists for the day. All in all a great weekend, with some of my favorite peeps. Can't wait to soak in all that Alaska has to offer this summer!

Hawk-sitting

Oh how I look forward to my monthly Hawk-sitting while Kim is at drill! Hawkins and I had a great weekend skyping, running on the coastal trail and of course we fit in some photo shoots as well. Our little Hawk is getting bigger and cuter everyday, not that I am biased at all:) He was a happy mellow guy for most of the weekend only breaking into fits of terodactyl screams a couple times. He's pretty entertaining all around and I love his visits to the sherbet condo!

Clean Air Challenge Bike Trek!

This weekend I biked 12o miles over two days in support of the Clean Air Challenge, a fundraiser for the American Lung Association. This is my first year as part of Team Karen and I had so much fun. It was definitely a challenge, but the scenery and weather were beautiful and my teammates, so supportive. We biked Houston to Talkeetna(two small towns north of Anchorage) and back the next day. It was such a great adventure. Thank you to everyone who supported me!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Thinking of my mom, my grandmas and all the other lovely women who have inspired and encouraged me through the years!

Tight n' Bright Fiesta

The inaugural Tight n Bright Fiesta was a success! My first Tight n Bright party was in Austria when I was traveling through Europe a few years ago. I loved all the crazy bright outfits and thought it would be a perfect match with a fiesta themed par-tay. And really the more excuses to eat guacamole the better!
